PathDesigner™
Microwave Automation Software
PathDesigner™ is CIC's proprietary microwave automation software. It was designed by engineers for engineers to automate a previously labor intensive requirements of microwave path and network design. A CIC engineer using the PathDesigner™ software can save thousands of hours in the design of complex microwave networks and reduce errors to near zero. PathDesigner™ works seamlessly with customer databases, other microwave design software, such as PathLoss™ and most mapping software tools to manage and control data. Some of the time saving features of PathDesigner™ include:
- Automatic backups to allow Undo for critical operations.
- PL4 Link files checked for errors in Coordinates, Elevations, Antenna centerlines with optional automatic correction.
- Functionality to automatically detect and reverse the site order inside the PL4 link files (sometimes done by surveyors).
- Functionality to automatically correct the naming of PL4 link files.
- Equipment selection and application ensures link availability is respected.
- Equipment reports cross check PathDesigner™, Pathloss™ and both Site and Path Database outputs.
- Automatic band assignment.
- Automatic assignment of closet POP site (traffic drain); optional grouping by POP.
- Automatic checks of manual path saves for adequate range (availability) for the chosen equipment .
- Automatic checks of manual path saves for band of chosen equipment (compatibility and aligned with selected band).
- Automatic find of all sites that are not connected (valuable in VERY large networks).
- Site photo views in the Site Manager to aid in antenna centerline selections.
- The ability to copy equipment between PL4 link files in bulk (many to many); useful when integrating designs.
- Automatic clear of all equipment OR antenna down tilts OR losses in the PL4 link files OR delete of all PL4 link files.
- Reports of duplicate or co-located (< 0.2 miles) sites.
- Report of duplicate paths (A-B or B-A).
- Ability to have multiple paths between the same sites in the same project folder.
- Optimization to find lowest antenna heights in 3 ways: Site centric, Path centric or over the network. These take into account all antennas per site at the same height as well as structure heights.
- Site elevations automatically set from terrain data.
- Automatic Visio drawing (logical diagram) layout.
- Automatic network layout aids (rings and spurs).
